DRIVER EDUCATION COURSE:
This course is the Ministry of Transportation Approved Beginner Driver Education Course comprised of 40 hours combined classroom and in-car training. This course exceeds the Ministry of Transportation expectations.
The Classroom Program is delivered on the principles for safe, rules of the road, driving in adverse conditions, alcohol and drugs and their effect on driving ability, legal aspects of insurance and much more. Included in the programs will be regular tests, assignments, appropriate films, videos. Students will participate in presentations and group activities.
The program is enhanced by Guest Speakers (upon availability) will visit the class and will
include a Basic Auto Maintenance Seminar, a visit from the Ontario Road Knights Program and others. Passing grade for classroom 80%.
The In-Car program consists of teaching (both Automatic and /or Gear shift training) on all road conditions, providing a diverse traffic scenario including city roads, country roads, highways, and the local freeway systems. Trips to local communities utilizing the York Region infrastructure assist in developing the novice driver's awareness, skills in manoeuvring in emergency situations, and competency in the driving task.
The passing grade for the In-Vehicle Training Program is 80%. Successful completion of both the Classroom and In-Vehicle will result in the student obtaining the accreditated driver record necessary for any insurance discounts.
